Tuesday, I dropped back by the piece that Os Gemeos are working on. This time, I was able to chat with Gustavo (above) for a while in Portuguese. I can’t tel you how great it was to chat with a Brazilian that has a proper Paulista accent (not to mention that it was cool to chat with him regardless dialect). He said that they are going to try to wrap this piece up by the end of the week. So, I’ll be back by there, probably tomorrow to shoot the finished product. The image below shows the progress, as of Tuesday afternoon (Moody Blues, anyone?).

I’m still not feeling 100%, but I can’t really take much more of a break from running, and expect to stay sane. If it isn’t raining tonight, I plan to resume with the training sched.. I’m a bit nervous, after taking a full week off. Thankfully my long run, slated for Saturday is only 14 miles. I will have a week to get back into the groove (Madonna, anyone?), before my 20 mile run next weekend.

The part that I’m really looking forward to, about the next two long runs, is that Summer Streets is currently in full effect. So, instead of doing my usual out-and-back down the Hudson River path, I can do Park Avenue, instead. Should be a blast, and a much welcomed change of scenery.

But, the biggest thing on my mind/load off of my mind, is that all of the nerd-stuff that I have been chipping away at for the last week and a half is finally resolved. Everything is now back in a relatively maintenance free stasis (fingers-crossed). I feel like I can finally get back to real life, and it isn’t a day too soon, because I am super behind on EVERYTHING.

Reagan and I were doing it up Bklyn-style, last night and a Converse promo featuring Kid Cudi et al. It is kind of fun when I can bring Reagan along to gigs like those, because we always spend some time just goofing off. There are just a few more items that I have to knock out, today– then I can start packing for vacation! Woo Hoo. We worked it out, so that we can go visit PJ together tonight, before we fly out. I’m pretty amped about that (a’course). I’m so ready to finally be able to take advantage of the beach weather. Something tells me that my running regimen is going to suffer a bit over the next few days. Hehe.

A few more shots from last night:

Also, I didn’t realize until I saw the flier in this shot that MIA is playing with Die Antwoord at Guv’s Island. Whaaaaa??????????????? And it’s going down the weekend that we are fuera, of course. Speaking of Die Antwoord, I hear a rumor that Yo Landi Visser might be cast in the Hollywood version of “Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.”

One more thing..  Reagan authored a guest post, that ran today on one of her favorite blogs. Apparently, she was asked to articulate what it is like, having to leave after visits with PJ. I think that Reagan did a pretty swell job. So, if you get a chance and are interested, feel free to pop over.

I hate to just bomb the bejeebus out of a post with endless photos, like this. But sometimes, you kinda have to. Here are a few more of my faves from Monday and Tues.

See if you can spot those who own Olympic medals, below (they all own winter-x titles). Extra points if you name them all.

I hate to say this, but I was kind of hoping that fedoras would die out by the fall. I thought we were headed that direction too, since I have seen them stacked 20 deep on the street vendor’s tables on Broadway in Soho– with tourists buying them up at 2 for $10. I liked them so much better when they were only rocked by really old dudes, rude boy/ska kids, and jazz musicians. I wonder if we could bring back the straw pork pie. Oh well. They make for a fun photo, when all lined up like this on a rack. Hehe

I have had a blast, this week shooting three separate trade shows. Monday, I was able to hang out with a bunch of Olympic caliber snowboarders and swap some stories about riding Utah back country. I was also able to reconnect with all of my friends over at Cargo. It was a blast. I’m including a few of my favorite images from the Capsule show, in this post.

Tonight, Reagan and I are going to be hitting a Converse promo in Brooklyn, where some of the guys from Vampire weekend will be performing. It should be a good time. I’ll try to put up a few more shots from yesterday and today/tonight, before we run off to Charleston.

Separately: Reagan and I have had so much positive feedback in the form of kind comments about the recent shots that we posted (here is Reagan’s post), of Piper’s progress with walking, etc.. I know that we have a fairly limited overlap in readership, but I just wanted to say thanks for all of the positive vibes that we have received. We really do have a lot of gratitude for the amount of support that we feel. Sometimes it almost makes me feel like we are doing something right :)

First things first– One of the Titel Media blogs that I shoot for, Selectism is up for an award from Conde Nast’s Details magazine.  If you haven’t checked out Highsnobiety, or Selectism, make sure to jump over and check them out. Afterward, be sure to get onto the Details Magazine site, and cast your vote for Selectism.

Next up– I am going to be running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, this week with all of the trade shows and various other goings on that I will be attempting to cover, for the next few days. I’m excited, for all of it. But, at the same time the stress-o-meter is bouncing in the red, hehe.

To cap things off– Thursday we will be heading to Charleston, on a mini vacay to visit some friends. I’m totally looking forward to it. So, the objective is to make it to Wednesday night in one piece. Here goes! :)

Hump Day

oakleyxstpl-2010-shotbyjake-com-6417bw

Normally, by this time of the week, a little bit of detente creeps into my mood, and I start to anticipate the weekend. Today, however, I’m totally stressed out. I had a 9 mile run marked for this morning. I woke up at 5:30– monsoon. So, I figured I would give it an hour, and set my alarm for 6:30. Again, I woke up to a monsoon. Since It takes me about an hour to do that kind of distance, I had to abandon running this morning. The crappy part is that I’m going to be working tonight, so I won’t be able to do it then, either. I know I need to just get over it.

On the positive side– 1. we are FINALLY getting some rain. Hopefully it will cool things down for a minute. 2. It is Wednesday. Only two more days until a weekend, in which neither Reagan or myself have any commitments marked. This means that we can do whatever we want! 3. I shot a pretty cool thing for Oakley last night. I included a few of my faves above and below. I used to have a pair of Frogskins in high school. I loved them. 4. If you love Piper, be sure to check out some super adorable video of her practicing walking, over on Reagan’s Blob.

Pip is a spittin’ handful

Author: Reagan

The Pip has been a handful and a half these days. She is a fireball of energy, and stronger than ever. She is constantly on the prowl for the next mess to make and always scouring the room for something to get in to. They have had to rearrange her furniture because she’ll just reach right through her crib bars and throw things around, mess with her settings and monitors and clear off surfaces. She is not a pixie like I always thought, she is a little imp! (i secretly like *love* it.)

I have always had to wipe her mouth and nose endlessly, but lately she is producing more secretions than ever. It makes me crazy (and her I’m sure). Her little face is so raw and chafed. When I say I’m wiping endlessly, I really mean more often than every 10 seconds. Not exaggerating. It is out of control! I have always kind of thought that the ventilator pushes out the secretions from her nose, because it mostly comes out of one nostril (her other nostril has atresia), but she has been just a little sick lately and i think that is the reason for the extra globs. poor thing. Hey look at me! I just wrote almost a whole blob post on snot! Last it was barf, maybe my next one will be poop! You never know here! Stay tuned, I’ll see if a poop story appears.

Check Piper Jane out, she is spitting and trying to break my necklace all at the same time. She is such a multi-tasker and just doesn’t have time to waste.

poor little red face.

This little tree frog sleeping in Jake’s lap is about the cutest one I ever heard of. She wasn’t feeling well and slept the whole visit, so i didn’t want to bother her with a fourthy outfit. <-this was sunday. She is feeling much better as of yesterday when i was there.Dang, look at that snuggled up ball of cute. Laying on a tall drink of hot.

Have a nice life.

Love,

Reagan

ps I got lots of advice and motivating comments about life (work). My clients are much more understanding and sweet than i gave them credit for, no one has ever pressured me to bend over backwards for them, so I think everything is going to be fine if I just relax a little. My big job is this weekend and I’m not stressed anymore. It’s going to be fun fun. Hooray!

Work and life and kids

Author: Reagan

Summer is flying by. I have been so busy that it makes me sad. I am so busy before work and at work and after work and on weekends that i’ve kind of become a stressed person. I love freelancing and doing clients at home, but it has kind of taken over. I don’t know how to find a balance that works. I don’t want to raise my prices or divorce any of my clients, but I’m just too busy and I’m really starting to miss my free time. Any suggestions? How about if I just do one or two specific days a week for my freelancing? Is this boring talk? I’m ultra anxious right now because I am booked for a huge (to me) tv job next weekend. I don’t have an assistant and I’m really excited and stressed and nervous about how I’m going to juggle everyone by myself. I hope it goes well. Because tv is really where I want my career to go.

I think I’m going to make a list of things to do this summer and then I’m going to do them. I have several things to look forward to…This weekend is going to be free from any work for both jake and myself, which basically never happens. jake and I are going to charleston in a few weeks for a little vacation and to visit some great friends (I’m going to make a little surprise for the pip that is inspired by a great comment I got! Thanks so much Liz), hopefully some beach trips, lots of running (Jake and I are in marathon training), a half marathon in Philadelphia, and maybe just some spontaneous day trips. Hopefully. It’s going to be a great summer, I just need to slow down and enjoy it.

There has been construction going on outside of pippy’s house for a long time and we haven’t been able to take her outside because of it, but I’m wondering if we could for a little walk or just to sit in the grass? I’m going to ask.

I’m kind of just writing down my random thoughts, which is a little weird, but it kind of feels good for some reason. This post is kind of a downer, right? I’m really lucky to love my job and to be working so much, I guess I just need to figure out what works best for me in terms of balance, because the salon and freelance and being a wife and training for a marathon and church and visiting my daughter in a different city is a complete juggling act.

Also, a lot of my clients are my friends and read my blob, so I hope you aren’t like “what the H reags, thanks for making me feel like you hate me!”. I don’t hate you, I love you and your hair with every body part on my body except for like 4 of them…because gross.

Here are some pictures of a cute little pixie. I’m blobbing from my phone and I never can control or know where the pictures are going to end up in the post so enjoy the pics above or below or around the block.

Wah-wah-weekend is here!

Author: Jake

dcpreview-2010-shotbyjake-com-4024

Even though the weekend hasn’t officially started yet, it feels like it for me. Today is my day off from running, and my calendar is empty for today! As busy as this week was, it was also super productive. Yesterday afternoon, I was able to shoot a sneak peak of the Fall and Winter stuff that DC is putting out this year (see above for a teaser). It was one of those jobs that I was as excited about shooting, as I was to see what they are coming out with, this year.

Moving on– I received a call from Piper’s social worker yesterday, that someone from a long term care facility was visiting Blythedale and met Piper. I wasn’t exactly sure how to read the call, since it may mean nothing, for now. But it was one of those painful reminders that Piper cannot stay at Blythedale indefinitely. More on that as it develops (hopefully not anytime soon).

This weekend– As usual, we have a pretty packed agenda. Here is the rundown-

  1. Friday night: possibly deliver aquarium to a buyer. Sold Tina and some of the convicts this morning. It was really sad for me. But their new dad is as big of a fish nerd as me, so I know they will have a good home.
  2. Forget about the double down, Reagan is going to attempt to make us burger melts (Reagan’s would be a veggie burger, of course):
  3. Saturday morning: 16 Mile run, then visit Piper.
  4. Saturday evening: Shoot inaugural opening of the Hole Gallery, which will be taking the place of the Deitch Project, in SoHo. Then, dinner date with Reagy B.
  5. Sunday morning early: Trek to Governor’s Island for the Clicquot Classic Polo Match. The press check-in sheet said to bring a ladder and a long lens. I don’t have any ladders. Maybe I can borrow one from our super. Hahahaha. Should be interesting. It will be my first trip to Governor’s Island, this summer. I’m excited for it.
  6. Sunday afternoon: Attend a KAWS exhibit opening at the Aldrich Gallery in CT (hopefully with Reagan). Then visit Piper again, on the way home.
  7. Random additional item: I’m selling this Canon zoom lens. Email me if you are interested.

Pardon all of the list making that I have been doing lately. Sometimes it is the only way I can stay organized. Have a great weekend!!

I had a blast this morning shooting the latest stuff from the guys at Only. I was able to recruit Samuel, again. He was a good sport about getting up at 5:30 for the shoot. In this shot he is rocking the new Only New York “Fish Tank.” It is needless to say that I love the name. Getting so amped for this weekend, and it isn’t even Friday, yet.
