My new jacket! hooray!

Author:

Guys! I got a new jacket! Cool right? I love new jackets. Isn’t that really special and interesting?

Remember last year when I got that navy blue dress with white polka dots from the Alexa Chung for Madwell line? She just came out with another collection, and I got this jacket! It’s the only thing I picked up from the collection, but I love it. And I can’t wait to wear it to smithereens this fall, especially in a couple of weeks when I go to Londy-pants! It just seems right considering Chung is a Brit!

Let me talk about real, non-jacket life for a second.

My weekend was insane.

Piper Jane has a mild case of RSV, which sounds really scary, but it’s not that bad for a 4 year old. She is just sleeping a lot and slightly feverish. I know this might sound weird, but I felt slightly relieved to find out that Pippy is sick. It was probably cooking up last weekend while we were there, which can explain a little bit of her lethargy. I’m sure she’ll be better soon enough and I can happily report that I’ve been feeling a little better about the Yellow unit. I kind of feel like nothing can compare to the Green unit, and the nurses we love so much in there, so it’s almost like Yellow never had a real chance.

Anyway, I had a beautiful visit with Pip yesterday. She slept the whole time, but snuggly slept. I held her hand, and I played with her little ears. I looked close at her face and smelled her head like the creepy mother that I am. You better believe that I put the mother in smother.

Today is Sunday and I’ve been at a video shoot all day in Brooklyn. I have worked so much this week and I am all tuckered out. Neat, right? I actually have to go back In 30 minutes and the shoot is wrapping at 2am.

So, bye.

(PS I finished “The Help”. It lived up to all the praise it got IMO.)

whats new?

Author:

Well, here is what’s new.

My laptop is broken. So I’m using Jake’s laptop to blog. I wanted to go to Hairdresser on Fire first and blog there, but the entire website is broken aparently. Just to make my life hard.

Yesterday, Jake and I did a video shoot for Aussie. We did 5 videos with a different model/look for each one, using Aussie products.  I used my friends/clients as models, so even though it was a long day, it was a very fun day. And no one got upset when I had to take a few minutes inbetween shots to dance.

Above are just a few shots from the video shoot.

This week I’m going to enjoy some serious relaxation. Cannot wait.

I posted one of these images a while back, vaguely mentioning what it was about. Well…. One of Reagan’s friends and long-time client has worked in fashion forever. She recently left her full time gig, in order to freelance. She had this idea where she would use her apartment to style up items, photograph them and sell them online. A few weeks ago she asked me if I would like to shoot it, and help with the web stuff. It sounded fun, so of course I said yes. Anyway, The site went live today. I think that it is pretty cool, given the fact that it was all done with two days of shooting, and only about a week and a half of coding (mostly done by my friend Joe, who I enlisted to help share the load). Anyway, check it out when you get a chance. The site is Hollysapartment.com. Also, check out the write-up in Racked, today. Here are the rest of the rooms we shot, below–

Reagan’s latest skills, and most productive day ever.

Author:

When Reagan got home on Monday night, she didn’t waste any time showing me all of the video and photos that she shot while she was in Chicago. I have been working with her for the past few months trying to get her comfortable shooting the 5D in Manual. She took it with her on her trip, and didn’t have to call me once to ask me how to adjust the settings. The images came out awesome. I’m super proud of her. As I write this, she is in my office sorting everything out, in lightroom. If that wasn’t enough, check out her video skills! She shot and cut this whole thing herself.

Anyway, enough bragging about the wife. Today was one of those days where I didn’t waste one minute. I woke up at 5:30, Moved the car. Came home and changed into running gear, went for a run. After showering, I packed a messenger bag (with work clothes, camera and bike lock), took the train to Brooklyn. In Brooklyn, I stopped by M. Cuomo’s old apartment and picked up a bike that Mike left for me with his former roomie. From there, I rode across the Williamsburg Bridge, cross town, and down to the FiDi for work. I tried out the new parking area inside of the gated parking garages at my building. It was amazing. No anxiety about the bike getting ripped off, all day long. I was super busy, at the office, which made the day fly by. I know this is getting boring, but I must continue. After work, I rode to a gallery to shoot an opening. Then rode home. I have spent the rest of the evening setting up my new laptop that Reagan and Piper got me for Father’s Day. I’m writing this post from that very computer. The end.

Reagan in Action- welcome to the weekend

Wednesday night was kind of fun because Reagan and I were working at the ASH Footwear party in SoHo. I shoot these types of events fairly often. I have to admit that they aren’t my favorite thing to shoot. But the fact that Reagan and some of her salon friends were there, made it a lot of fun. I shot several images of Reagan working her magic.

The party was hosted by Solange Knowles. Here is a shot of Reagan and her friends from the salon with Ms. Knowles.

Reagan wrote about the event on Hairdresser on Fire, if you want to check it out.

I’m pretty excited to get the weekend started. I haven’t seen Piper for too long. I hope that she remembers me, hehe. I wish that it could be a little bit more of a chill weekend. Alas, it is booked to the gills. Reagan is throwing a bridal shower on Sunday. So, I will be helping her set it up on Saturday/Sunday and doing the photography. Sunday morning (fathers day) I have a race in CP. Then Sunday eve, we will be taking down the shower venue. Despite the busyness that this weekend brings, I’m glad to be able to spend some time hanging out with Reagan and PJ, again.

Have a great weekend!

Blossoms Galore

Author:

On Friday morning, Jake came up with me for a special Piper Jane visit before he had to work. Actually before I had to work too. I went into the salon to work on the wigs for a few hours on my day off. We drove down to the West Village and had a quick lunch before parting ways for work. These Magnolias are so beautiful and I swear they always die before I can fully enjoy them.

Somehow there are lots of blossoms right now. Even though it’s really pretty cold still, the blossoms are persistant little fellas and I approve of their behavior as noted below.

We met up with some of our friends who ran a race in Central Park before having som delicious cheese grits at brunch. The tulips were all about showing off. Sexies.

On Saturday night we went to Chelsea for an art exhibit by Haroshi. A Japanese artist who breaks apart old skateboards to make amazing pieces. The way the moose’s neck starts out with big chunks of wood and then ends up little spekles closer to its nose is so perfectly executed.

Skateboard Mario.

There was a little of this and a little of that along with our weekend. Piper Jane was very gunky all weekend and had some unfortunate pukies. Poor little buglet. I could tell she wanted to play so badly, but just couldn’t with all that was going on in her little body. She was still the snuggly peanut she always is and played musical laps with Jake and I for the entire visit on Sunday. I hope she feels better soon. Piptures (just a few unfort’) to come later on.

We’re starting to really get into our European vacation planning. We had decided on Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam, but have sadly decided to cut Amsterdam out of the trip. Our flights are pretty bad with lots of layovers, and we agreed that it was altogether just too much travel time to include a 7 hour round trip train ride into the mix. I’m really sad, I was so excited about Amsterdam, but hopefully we’ll go another time, and I think in the end we’ll be happy we didn’t hop around like crazy people.

I watched “Love In The Afternoon” last week and I decided Audrey Hepburn really is my favorite. She is so spunky and adorable. Plus she usually does some kind of amazing pig tail ‘do in all of her movies. Plus she also always lies about her identity in every movie (says she’s not a princess in Roman Holiday, pretends she’s not a country bumpkin in Breakfast at Tiffany’s…) and I used to LOVE doing that with my girlfriends in high school. We all had “out of town” names. We always got caught but that’s ok because so does Audrey.

Jake is making me some peppermint tea, and I think I’ll watch a movie. I’m having lady time and that beast of a Period Fairy has decided to ruin my life this month. I guess most of my blog friends are ladies, so hopefully that isn’t too gross of an overshare. Aren’t Period Fairies the worst? Like, what the hell?

PS I still like my red hair. Hooray.

I got home from work last night at 10:30. I worked my little fingers to the bone sewing wefts of extensions into wigs for a big video shoot we’re doing at work on Sunday and Monday. This is totally the kind of thing I don’t mind working until 10:30 for. It was fun to see them come together after working on them for so long. They still have to be styled, but they were blowing my mind even prestyled. One has FEATHERS for bangs! And one has FABRIC for bangs. I’m so excited to see them all finished.

(PS I’m wearing white tights in the above picture if you’re wondering why my legs are so white. Just believe me that they are perfectly tan and toned….not just as white as the tights covering them.)

And just after I complained that Piper Jane doesn’t like to snuggle face to face, she falls asleep in my lap in the midst of a face to face snugg. But I’m still thinking that it might have only been to make up for her behavior because LOOK at what she did to my neck! Little claw monkey.

Being clawed was worth it. Piper Jane’s Super Hero alter ego is named Clawdia I heard.

I’ll be back asap which might not be soon because this weekend is going to be crazy busy y’all.

Party at the Roc

We have already had a pretty busy week, this week. I worked late yesterday, but still managed to fit in a winter line launch party for Flud Watches. Then Tuesday night, Reagan and I attended a (work related) holiday party at Rockefeller Center. It was at one of the restaurants that is adjacent to the skating rink. Skating was included in the party festivities. I went to this party alone a couple of years ago, and Reagan really felt bad, because I don’t really even like skating, she does. Plus she had been begging me to take her. So I hope that this year makes up for it. We brought the point and shoot, but it died after the first shot. So, all of these pics are from the gritty lil blackberry cam.

Apparently Reagan, at some point today read a Facebook blurb from my sister about cherry limeade. She said that she had been craving one, ever since.  So, that is what she ordered at the bar. The bar tender was a little bit stumped at first. But after she explained it a little bit, the mixologist (yes, I am using that term, because the dude earned it) came up with a pretty fancy looking drink that seemed to satisfy Reagan’s fever. Try to ignore my totally serious face, below. I was focusing pretty intently on keeping a steady arm for the photo. Doesn’t Reagan look cute though?

In addition to all of the festivities of the last couple of days, we also finished our Christmas cards tonight! Man, I’m feeling pretty productive, right about now.

Here is a link to a couple more crappy blackberry cam shots of Reagan posing with her skates on.

Work Free-Fridays for the Month of December

Author:

I had some surplus vacation time to use up before the end of the year. As a part of it, I’m taking a vacation at the end of every week this month (for those weeks that don’t already end in holidays), starting last Friday. It was really fun to be able to go up and see Piper on a week day.  Our friend Andrea came with us on Friday. Piper enjoyed cuddling and playing with Andrea.
