Back to School

Author: Jake

I don’t mean to brag, but, in my very biased opinion, I seriously have some of the cutest  nieces and nephews on the planet. It is basically blowing my mind that two of them have now grown enough to start school. Here are some adorable recent shots of them.

Maya off to her first day of school in Ketchikan Alaska. Beyond cute–

I seriously love that her backpack is as big as she is. Flawless first day of school outfit, right down to the ruby slippers.

And here is my little nephew Kelton. I’m not going to say these are cute (because I don’t want to risk taking a samurai sword to the knee caps next time I see the guy), but he is a handsome little kindergartner.

Serious props on the hairstyle (he chose it himself). His teacher is going to smell trouble in the air from a mile away with this little guy.  Hahahah.

Piper Jane mauls mama

Author: Reagan

One of my favorite new things that the pip does, happens when I’m on the floor with her. We often put a sheet down and it’s been a great way for her to spread out and crawl around more (which I’ll have you know she is nailing). One time I laid down on the sheet and I guess seeing me like that sent Piper Jane completely over the edge. It’s the most hilarious and strange thing to have her mama laying down on the floor. She grins a huge, evil, mischief making grin and bee-lines it over to me. Then she immediately lays down across my neck, sits on my head and face and curls up with me, tapping my eye-lids (keep ‘em closed!). She does all of those things. She plays “Musical Mama” (like musical laps, but only with me instead and again without music) and goes from one corner of me to the next, mauling me with snuggles. She laughs and makes herself at home. It’s my favorite. I know I already mentioned that but step off. It’s my favorite.

The one shoe off is really a regular Piper Jane touch. So is that adorable pouch of princesses.

This is my absolute favorite picture from saturday, and maybe my top 10 favorite piptures ever. She is laying on my face (MY FACE!), playing with her princess. Happy as a clam. (I hear clams say “happy as a pip”, have you heard that too?) Anyway, nothing weird about laying on mama’s face and playing with my princess…..

Pippy fell asleep in Jake’s lap not long after smothering me. She never let go of Sleeping Beauty for one second. Man, she has really taken a liking to lap sleeping lately. Booyah.I strongly suggest you go find your own pip.

Piper’s Saturday + B-boy Battle

Author: Jake

2010-shotbyjake-com-8912

Piper did remember, today. Phew! She was in a great mood when we arrived. I feel like she is getting better and better at walking. She has to hold on to stuff, but I think that she enjoys being mobile on her feet. Today she kept making the rounds between me, Reagan and the bottom of her crib. She would take stuff out, put it back, then come over and sit on my lap to play with whatever she had found under her crib.

One of Piper’s favorite things, lately is when we lay on the ground. She basically mauls us the same way that a puppy would. Except instead of licking, she just gets cozy by laying her head on our face, or sitting on our head.

Ultimately, she got tuckered out and came over for her favorite nap spot– me. She snored and sqeaked in her sleep a little bit, until we tucked her in and headed out.

Here are a few more from our visit, today.

After our visit, we headed home for a quick nap, then I headed down to the Altman, to shoot a B-boy battle. It was ridiculous. I felt like I was in 4th grade again, watching Turbo and Ozone for the first time. Here are a couple of my faves:

Piper Jane plays with Hannah

Author: Reagan

Today Piper Jane met the beautiful Hannah. Hanna came all the way from Queens to meet this Pip, and she was all over her. It was heaven for my chicky-pip. She left my lap over and over for Hannah’s, she showed Hannah her toys and she only took her eyes off of her new friend to look at Snow White for a second. Hannah asked questions and we caught her once studying Pipsey’s vent curiously. I think she might be a doctor in a couple of years.

We pretty much played “Musical laps” the whole time. Musical laps is like musical chairs except for with laps, and without music and Piper Jane is the only one playing. Pippy said you can use our idea at your next birthday party except for that she requires a steep appearance fee if you want pro-lessons on how to play the game.

I kept Piper Jane to myself after our vacation because I missed her so much. I wanted to spend my first visit back only snuggling and playing and getting clawed instead of bothering miss pippy with pictures. Today I didn’t mind sharing her with my friends Minna and Hannah and I’m happy to share her with you too after a long week with no trace of a pip. I like this picture below because Piper had such a good idea that her hair went crazy.

After our friends left, I stayed for a few more hours overdosing on smothers and rocking out. Piper even fell asleep in my lap! She only sleeps in Jake’s lap. I swear, the second I pick her up it is time to party. It’s nice, but there is really nothing sweeter than having a pipster in my arms and listening to her saw toothpics (toothpips) quietly. Tisk…my eyes are compass needles and she’s north.

Vacation is good but Pip’s house is really where it’s at.

~I am mostly glad to have had such a great visit with my button girl because Jake is DYING to see her. I have a feeling he’ll be a big fat Pippy hog all weekend. I might bring a timer with me and set it for 30 minutes each like my mom used to do with tv. If you go over your limit, you’r grounded for a century.

Piper in the window

Author: Reagan

As I was saying earlier, I can’t get enough of these piptures from our sunday visit. Pip was just the happiest, cutiest pipsqueak that I ever knew.

I’ll call these photos “how much is that pippy in the window?”. Before I start getting comments with bids for her, let’s make sure you all know that she isn’t for sale at all. Go find your own.

Isn’t her hair so funny? We don’t call her Pippy for nuthin’!

Piper Jane goes outside

Author: Reagan

This is a ton of piptures. This time I mean it. I just kept liking more and more and had to post a lot. Yesterday Piper Jane was so happy and cute that I keep thinking about the day and smiling. Plus it’s the big kind of smile that you do on the subway and then you remember that people are probably scared because you have a huge evil grin for some unknown reason. I wish I could just say “Don’t worry guys, this smile is because of Piper!”, but they’d probably just look at each other and shrug.

Anyway, here are two thousand piptures of our walk around the facility and our adventure outside. enjoy. Also, does anyone know where I can get some tiney tennis balls to put on Pip’s walker? I’ve seen old ladies with them and I figured they’re important.

(in this little romper, Piper Jane looks like Jake’s grandpa Breinholt. plus she is stopping to take a breather which is my favorite thing ever. And probably yours too.)

It’s a litle hard to tell the difference between Pip’s biggest smile and her squintiest squint.

I like this below picture because if it were a race I would have won by a toe. Next time I’ll go a half size up.

So fun. And man it felt good to get out of that room.

Thank so much for being so sweet about Piper Jane’s walking progress. I’m so proud of her, but so are you. I love hearing your support and cheers for my little Peabody Piper. I feel so special to have so many people reading about her and sending her fruitful vibes of encouragement. I told her about you guys and she squeaked.

Weekend Recap

Author: Jake

piper-7-18-shotbyjake-com-6739

This weekend was so great. We really didn’t do much, at all. I was able to take naps on both Saturday and Sunday. The definite highlight of the weekend, was our Sunday morning visit with Piper. It was one of those times, where she was in an awesome mood when we arrived, and stayed that way the whole time we were there. Her therapist left Piper’s little walker in her room, this weekend, so that we could let her use it. As soon as we got it out, she started squeaking and smiling from ear to ear. She LOVES walking around, now. It seriously might be the cutest thing that I have every personally witnessed.

piper-7-18-shotbyjake-com-6588

After she walked around in her walker for a while, we decided to take her outside. It was pretty sunny and warm, so we went straight for the shade. Even in the shade, it was a little brighter than Piper was accustomed to. It took her a little while to adjust.

After going back inside, we decided to take Piper down to the cafeteria, which is always empty on the weekends, and has some windows that are just the right height for Piper to stand up and look out of.

piper-7-18-shotbyjake-com-6753

Who knew that windows could be so fun? Hahahaha

Weekend Recap: Piper, etc..

Author: Jake

7-10weekend-2010-shotbyjake-com-6070

We were pretty spoiled, this weekend, with visits from some of our good friends. Friday night, our good friends the Truscotts stopped through on their way moving out west. We are really bummed to see them move so far away from us. They have a new baby, which Piper was extremely curious about (above).

It was really good to see them, and we feel spoiled that they made a stop here on their epic road trip.

Some of Reagan’s close friends from high school, Terrah and Anthony were also in town over the weekend.

7-10weekend-2010-shotbyjake-com-6115

Piper didn’t waste any time snuggling up with Terrah. She was pretty interested in her jewelry, as well. It was really fun to have two such great visits with the PJ, this weekend.

7-10weekend-2010-shotbyjake-com-6125

Even though Piper was still running a low grade fever on Sunday, we could tell that for the most part she was in a good mood. Hopefully by next weekend, she will be completely over the little bug that has been irritating her.

Check out the rest of the photos, over here.

Reagan and Jake do Coney (again)

Author: Reagan

At first I loved Jake for letting me drag him to Coney Island so much. But then i loved Jake when I realized he loves Coney Island himself. Maybe he wont admit that, and maybe he’ll be like “Reagan, remove that first paragraph from your blob immediately”, but I know he loves it. I saw it when he looked at the wonder wheel so lovingly, and then again when we rode the cyclone. And then I loved him more than ever. Man, I love this place. I smile just looking at the pictures.

Did you hear? I’m exciting AND thrilling.

Jake and I have ridden the wonder wheel about a hundred times. I can’t remember if I’ve ever told the story, but I love it. Many years ago, a hot dog vendor proposed to his girlfriend. He promised her he would buy her the wonder wheel one day if she agreed. She did, and then he bought her the wonder wheel when they were old and gray. Cute, right?

A lot of people are surprised to find out that New York has tons of beaches, and that it is a-scorch-er-ing hot in the summer. But here you’d call it a scorchah! This is Brighton Beach looking particularly packed. Double the amount of beach goers and you’ve got Copacabana. (minus the tropical-ness and also minus all the thongs)

Again on the wonder wheel. We always ride in the swinging ones.

Jake got some really cool pictures. The gorgeous blue sky and the very saturated colors of Coney helped I’m sure. I love the below picture with the bottom red car in mid-swing.

We also rode the cylcone, which we had both never done. It was so fun! It is super old and a lot of people have been injured on it, so they always threaten to shut it down. I understand people getting injured, my neck cracked a few times on some sharp turns. Also the little girl in front of us was practically flying out of her seat every time we dipped. And I think at least a couple people peed.

We went to Coney Island on saturday since we weren’t trying to be there for the big Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on the 4th. Very smart decision since we were able to play for a few hours without too much of a crowd and also without seeing Kobi get arrested. I watched the video of his arrest, he really was resisting! So weird!

We ended up walking across the George Washington bridge and going into Ft Lee for a picnic on the 4th. It was too hot and we haven’t had enough rain lately, so the grass was just not comfortable to lay in, even with a blanket. Did you know this is the biggest free standing flag in the world? I didn’t know until I read jake’s blog. You learn something new over there every day…The George Washington Bridge is so beautiful and this picture that jake took is spectacular. My friend Katie texted me to tell Jake to get a picture, but he was way ahead of us there. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had this exact shot in his head weeks ago.

So, our fourth of July was spent doing the most fourthiest things. Picnics, roller coasters, beaches, photo booths, old lady fortune telling, talking to strangers and the time I ate a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. Capped off by watching the Macy’s fire works on tv while hearing them outside my window.

The end.

PS We hung out with Piper too of course.
